Description

Olivia Skin Hydrating Face Wash with Aloe Vera, Cucumber, and Lavender is designed for the most delicate category of skin: dry, sensitive, and reactive. If your skin frequently stings after washing, feels tight within minutes of cleansing, turns red at minor friction, or reacts to most fragranced products — this face wash was formulated for you.

The challenge for dry, sensitive skin is that it needs thorough cleansing but cannot tolerate the dehydrating or irritating effects of conventional cleansers. This formula solves that by combining three of the most scientifically validated soothing and hydrating botanicals: cucumber extract (containing cucurbitacins and silica, with proven anti-inflammatory activity), lavender (whose linalool component provides both antiseptic and nerve-calming properties that reduce skin reactivity), and aloe vera (with its polysaccharide-rich hydrating matrix that conditions the skin barrier during cleansing).

Together, these actives cleanse without compromising the skin's already-fragile moisture barrier. The result is a clean, calm face that feels comfortable, not stripped — a standard that most sensitive skin types have never experienced from a regular face wash.

Suitable for adults and older children with sensitive skin, post-procedure skin (after peels, laser, or microneedling — with dermatologist approval), and anyone whose skin has been sensitised by harsh products.

Benefits
  • Cucumber extract soothes inflamed, reactive, and sun-exposed skin — reducing redness on contact
  • Aloe vera deeply hydrates and replenishes the moisture barrier during cleansing — preventing post-wash dryness
  • Lavender oil calms skin nerve sensitivity and provides mild antiseptic protection without harsh chemicals
  • Gentle enough for daily use on sensitive, post-procedure, or eczema-adjacent skin
  • Does not disrupt the delicate skin barrier — making it safe for chronically dry and sensitive skin types
  • Sodium PCA (a natural skin humectant) actively draws moisture into the skin during the cleansing process
  • Free from artificial colours, sulphates (SLS/SLES), parabens, and known sensitising fragrances
  • pH-optimised to be compatible with sensitive skin's already-fragile acid mantle
Direction to use
  • Step 1 — Use cool or lukewarm water only. Hot water is particularly damaging to sensitive skin — it strips the lipid layer and triggers flushing and redness.
  • Step 2 — Apply a small amount of face wash to damp face.
  • Step 3 — Massage in very light, gentle circular motions. Do not apply pressure or friction — gentle is the operative word.
  • Step 4 — Rinse thoroughly and completely.
  • Step 5 — Pat dry very gently with a soft, clean towel. Do not rub. Apply a soothing, fragrance-free moisturiser immediately — within 30 seconds of patting dry, while skin is still slightly damp, for maximum hydration retention.

For very sensitive or very dry skin: Once-daily evening use may be sufficient. Over-cleansing is a common error that worsens sensitivity.

Post-procedure use: Only if cleared by your dermatologist. Use with minimal friction and cool water.
Ingredients

Full Ingredient List:
Aqua, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Panthenol, Allantoin, Sodium PCA, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate.

Key Ingredient Breakdown:

  • Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract: Cucumber's skin benefits go beyond the popular image of cucumber slices on eyes. The extract contains:
    - Cucurbitacins: Tetracyclic triterpenoids with documented anti-inflammatory activity. Inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokines, reducing skin redness and swelling.
    - Silica: A trace mineral that strengthens the connective tissue framework of the skin and supports the structural integrity of the epidermal barrier.
    - Vitamin K: Promotes microcirculation and reduces visible redness from blood vessel dilation (relevant for rosacea-adjacent sensitivity).
    - High water content (~96%): Provides immediate cooling and hydrating effect on the skin surface.
  • Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil: Contains linalool (~38%) and linalyl acetate (~29%) as primary actives:
    - Linalool: Demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity, reducing the release of histamine (which triggers itch and redness). Also has mild local anaesthetic properties — it reduces the sensitivity of skin nerve endings, which is why lavender calms reactive, stinging skin.
    - Linalyl Acetate: Provides the mild antiseptic action that makes lavender effective against surface bacteria without the harshness of synthetic antibacterials.
Used at cosmetic concentrations well below the IFRA sensitisation threshold.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: The polysaccharide acemannan in aloe vera forms a water-binding film on the skin surface, providing sustained hydration. The enzyme bradykinase reduces inflammation. Vitamins C and E provide antioxidant protection.
  • Sodium PCA: The sodium salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid — a naturally occurring component of the skin's own Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). PCA is one of the most effective humectants in cosmetic science, attracting and retaining atmospheric moisture in the skin.
  • Allantoin: Accelerates skin cell turnover and regeneration while soothing irritation — particularly valuable for sensitive skin recovering from environmental damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Is this face wash safe for rosacea-prone skin? +
The cooling, anti-inflammatory profile of this formula — cucumber cucurbitacins, lavender linalool, and aloe vera bradykinase — makes it one of the most compatible cleansers available for rosacea-adjacent skin. The key triggers for rosacea (heat, friction, harsh surfactants) are all specifically avoided in this formulation. However, since rosacea is a medical condition, we always recommend consulting a dermatologist for personalised skincare guidance.
Q2. Can I use this after a laser treatment, chemical peel, or microneedling? +
Post-procedure skin requires the absolute gentlest cleansing possible for the first 1–2 weeks of recovery. This formula — sulphate-free, free from exfoliating actives, with soothing lavender and aloe — is appropriate in principle. However, always follow your treating dermatologist's specific post-procedure skincare instructions as they supersede general recommendations.
Q3. Is lavender oil in a face wash safe for all skin types? +
At the cosmetic concentrations used in this formula (well below the IFRA guideline limits), lavender oil is safe for the vast majority of skin types. People with a documented allergy to lavender or Lamiaceae family plants (which includes mint, basil, thyme) should avoid this product and choose the Olivia Chamomile Green Tea Face Wash instead.
Q4. My skin feels tight and dry right after washing — is that normal? +
A mild, brief tightness immediately after rinsing that resolves within 60 seconds once moisturiser is applied is normal for very dry skin types. Persistent, uncomfortable tightness that lasts after moisturising is a sign that cleansing is stripping the skin barrier. With this formula, most dry-skin users report comfortable skin immediately post-wash. If tightness persists, consider reducing to once-daily use.
Q5. Is this safe for children and teenagers with sensitive skin? +
The gentle formulation is appropriate for older children (10+) and teenagers with sensitive skin. For children under 10, consult a paediatrician before use.

So, my name is Yogita, and I have been using Olivia products for seven-eight months now. I initially thought they only offered beauty products, but they offer a wide range of beauty and skincare products. So let me take you on my journey with Olivia. It all started with their body wash, which takes you to a whole new level when you use it. It gives you a soft texture and feels like you just had a bath. I do it at least once a day and the aromatic bathing experience takes me to a different level of freshness.

Lipsticks are a must have in every girls vanity. I'm super fond of applying lipsticks and my current favourites are Olivia Beauty's newly launched Liquid Love Lipsticks. They come in so many shades, have smooth application and are highly pigmented. The best thing is that they don't dry out your lips and last very long. Hence i highly recommend these lipsticks. Perfect for all skin types and all occasions

I bought this after watching your Instagram post @oliviabeauty_india The foam that pumps out of the bottle generously covered my face. The bristles were soft on my skin, gently exfoliating and giving a good massage. I choose grapefruit+ vitamin C variant. It had a sweet fragrant. I felt refreshed and relaxed after using it. I would highly recommend everyone to try it
